As part of this year’s Open Studios, the Thurston Consort will be in concert Sunday, September 25th at 1 pm at the Rollstone Congregational Church, 199 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA. The Thurston Consort will be presenting a concert from composers of the First New England School also referred to as the Yankee Tune smiths. Composers of the 18th and 19th centuries are an important part of our New England musical heritage. These composers include Vermont composer, Jeremiah Ingalls who married a Westminster, MA girl. Timothy Swan of Worcester, MA. Hezekiah Moor who was born in Shirley, MA, Supply Belcher from Maine. A song by Jesse Hutchinson of those 19th-century superstar singing act from Milford, NH, The Hutchinson Family Singers, and music by Boston’s own, William Billings.
Admission is free however contributions are always welcome. This concert is partly funded through a grant from the Fitchburg Cultural Alliance.
